This Black Butterfly

Welcome to my first thisblackbutterfly post on WordPress! Just wanted to give you a little introduction to who I am and why I’m here. This is my space to inspire, create, express for myself and others. I started writing when I was 10 years old. I would write these little stories about foster kids and share them with my friends. They all would say they loved them and I had these dreams that I would become a writer, that’s what I was going to do. That dream was dashed when my mom said that there was no money in writing 😦 She had no clue, Oprah wasn’t on the scene yet. But needless to say, I lost interest as I would do in so many other things. The writer was always inside but I stifled her because of fear. So today is the beginning of a new world order. Sam I Am will write, create, express and inspire. Why thisblackbutterfly? This is me, I am black, and my journey is represented by the symbolism of a butterfly. If you were to research butterflies you would find all this scientific stuff about their classification, wings, contribution, etc. If you were to research butterflies and symbolism you would find that the butterfly represents change, resurrection, transformation, struggle, etc. That’s why thisblackbutterfly… I am changing, coming back to life, and I don’t look anything like I looked even 2 years ago. I feel like a butterfly coming into her own. Being this creature that would get stepped on or cause shrieking to becoming this creature that has freedom and is seen as beautiful. This is my path and I hope you don’t mind taking this journey with me. I’m going whether you come or not, but it’s always nice to have company.
